The Horrors Domestic Debut
'Strange House'
Review by Tim

This Horrors record was terrific. I heard their demos but they've
really stepped it up on their new record. I don't hear too many British
psychobiily bands. That will probably be the next trend. At least we know it all
started in the US.
Equipped with a snarly sound of wasted gore, the Horrors belt out brutal bravado
with blood thirsty beats on their bone chilling domestic debut "Strange House."
While merging Cramps style psychobilly with the arrogant swagger of the Fall,
the Horrors self assured confidence is created with a slamming organ directed
into an overdose of frightening flavor. Songs like "She is the New Thing"
recalls the Munsters being spoofed at a B-movie driven fright fest. Their best
cuts like "Sheena is a Parasite," break through at breakneck speed with no fancy
theatrics getting in the way and puzzling listeners.
A quintessential Halloween party record, Strange House takes us
through a demented state of blistering madness. With the closer "A Train Roars"
giving no weakness and keeping the pace as a creepy conclusion to this chaotic
classic.
