'What We Do is Secret'

Yeah it should be secret with a poser-pop star like Shane West portraying our beloved Darby Crash.  All I can think of is this ain't no 'Sid and Nancy'..........But maybe it is.  Everything and everyone one is telling me to take a 2nd look.  
 

Several times I debated whether or not I would work on this damn movie.... I didn't and now I'm afraid maybe I will forever regret it.

16 months ago when there was talk that Penelope Speeris would direct it and Pleasant would be involved it was a definite go, even if I had to work for free.  My talent company talked to me about Tequila Mockingbird and I doing some technical direction.  I was SO in. 

Sadly the rumors about Pleasant died out, Penelope dropped out, the money dried out and the project went into the forgotten zone.

But it came back like a bad case of herpes and my talent company asked me about doing  it again as a non-union project without any of the previous reasons to do it AND with Shane West as Darby.  How long do you think it took to say NO?

I LOVE the Germs and especially Darby.   He is the U.S. version of Sidney.  How can you take a pop-star and make him into Darby?  I don't believe you can but from some of the reports I'm getting..... maybe you can.

Tequila was a very good friend of Darby when he was alive and had as many misgivings about this film as I did after Penelope dropped out, but unlike me she jumped into the slam pit and came back with rave reviews.        ..........See L.A. Scoop 9

The Germs themselves are in the movie and apparently played a killer set with Shane West as DARBY at Dragon Fly for the Wrap Party. I ran into a friend who is GREAT friends with the remaining members of the Germs and is totally stoked by the movie and the "Germs" with Shane West as the new Darby.   I was invited to be on the guest list at the upcoming HUGE Old School Punk Rawk show at the Olympic Auditorium headlined by 'the NEW  Germs'.  I'm so GOING to this one. (Suicidal is 2nd headliner, along with Flipper and the DKs so it's a no-brainer)

I wasn't around when Darby was alive, but I hope for Darby's sake this show and movie is EVERYTHING I missed. I hope Shane West will make Gary Oldman want to take acting lessons.  I hope this movie better than  'Sid and Nancy',.

If Punk Rawk legends like Don Bolles and Co. can honestly back Shane West it can't be all bad. It may be GREAT......

BUT I won't believe until I see it for myself.

It better be fuck-all GOOD--Darby deserves it, dammit!
